FFP have worked with leading British food distributor Euro Food Brands to develop a range of new stand-up pouches on behalf of international confectionery brands Reese’s and Hershey’s, for whom they hold the official distribution rights in the UK.
Euro Food Brands has seen substantial growth of the Reese’s and Hershey’s brands over the last 5 years. To meet the growing demand, Euro Food Brands wanted to tap into the chocolate sharing bags category with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures and Hershey's iconic Kisses Cookies 'n' Creme. FFP were challenged to propose packaging to reflect the importance of this global brand, and support its positioning within key UK retailers. The Reese’s brand is supported by a dynamic social media campaign to drive sales of their ‘globally iconic’ chocolate and peanut butter confectionery into their target demographic, millennials.
Following the successful introduction of a range of reel-fed flow wrap products, FFP were challenged to create a range of pre-made stand-up pouches to further support the brand giving the new packs the shelf impact necessary to compete in this crowded market. From a pouch range that also includes K-seal and Doy packs, FFP followed their formal Launch Control protocol and proposed a ‘V-seal’ format for the pouches, the polyester/polythene construction displaying its full face, front and back. The Hershey’s Kisses pouch features a window so that consumers can clearly see the foil wrapped confectionery. Unfilled and filled packs are space-efficient in transit and storage, reducing energy costs and vehicle movements.
The packs are formed from a laminate structure of 12µ polyester and 80µ PE sealing layer chosen for its strength and clarity, a light but stiff structure that maintains its shape on shelf, while providing an excellent print medium to emphasise the design.
