FFP Packaging Solutions has responded to unprecedented growth in key areas of the business with new investments to bolster capacity and provide unique manufacturing capability for the UK flexible packaging market. With new investments in lamination, pouch making and Re-Seal label application systems, FFP is set to further solidify its position as the UK’s leading flexible packaging innovator specialising in the field of sustainable packaging solutions.
FFP is a laminate packaging specialist, offering bespoke packaging structures to meet exacting customer requirements. Adding to an already substantial lamination capacity, FFP have chosen a Nordmeccanica Super Combi 4000, one of the first in the UK and the latest in Nordmeccanica’s world-leading Simplex Combi range. The new laminator will handle solvent, solventless and waterbased adhesive systems as well as applying matt lacquers with high accuracy registration at the same time as significantly increasing coldseal production capacity.
A second bag and pouch machine will further underpin FFP’s commitment to this key growth pack format, especially important with the launch of FFP’s new plastic-free pouch range. The machine will double FFP’s pouch making capacity, which includes capability for Doy and K-seal pouches and two and three-side seal bags, along with the capacity to add carry handles and reclose zippers.
FFP are also adding a third reseal label application line, again responding to market growth and an appetite for resealable packaging formats that offer the consumer easy and convenient access to the product. FFP’s new line will accept film widths up to 650mm, which opens the technique to larger flow-wrap formats as well as tray lidding. FFP will be able to offer resealable packaging to a wide range of new grocery categories, providing new marketing opportunities to brand owners and new convenience to their customers.
Commenting, FFP’s CEO David Cooper said, “These investments represent another significant step forward, increasing our range and depth in these important market areas. These are exciting times for FFP and we look forward to bringing new opportunities to our customers and to consumers”.
The new equipment is currently undergoing factory acceptance trials and will be installed and operational towards the end of 2018.
