News: New Crispbake packs for Dorset Chilled Foods
FFP have recently produced these striking new packs for Dorset Chilled Foods, part of Northern Foods.
Because crispbakes are a new product for Safeway and Dorset Chilled Foods, they needed a new specification for the flow-wrapped tray pack format. They needed to find a flexible packaging supplier who would be able to develop a specification that would protect the product, work on their production equipment and meet Safeway’s innovative design specification. FFP were called in following a recommendation from another company in the Northern Foods group, with whom FFP has enjoyed a long and successful relationship. FFP conducted trials with Dorset Chilled Foods to prove and refine the specification chosen.
There are eight designs in the range. With inspiration and guidance from Safeway, the sophisticated appearance of the pack was achieved by reverse printing onto polyester, using one of FFP’s latest generation gearless flexo presses to bring out the vibrant photographic image. The print web was then laminated to a white OPP to further enhance the print. Then a patterned matt lacquer was used to create a matt/gloss effect on the pack.
Lucy Gilbert, Commercial manager of Dorset Chilled Foods, said, "We appreciated the help and support that FFP gave us. This was a new project for us and we were able to tap into FFP’s experience to make this project a success".
