Role: Flexographic Printer Team Leader (Wide Web)

Location: Northampton

Reporting to: Production Development Manager

Role Profile:

Run 8 colour flexo printing presses with day to day responsibility for shift employees in the print department.

Primary Duties:
  • Run 8 colour flexographic printing presses (wide web). To assess machine problems and prioritise as they occur and provide practical help to printers so that quality standards and production targets are achieved.  Liaise with the Production Development Manager as appropriate.
  • To respond to directives and requests from the Production Development Manager or other senior Management to ensure smooth operation of the department and its effective communications with other departments.
  • To attend meetings in the absence of Production Development Manager
  • To ensure that Company Policies / Procedures and Agreements are correctly applied, and assess and implement improvement projects in the Production Department.
  • Be vigilant on matters relating to the Health and Safety of Production employees.  To report incidents to the Production Development Manager and adopt a responsive attitude to problems of this nature.
  • To pass and approve print jobs and ensure high quality standards are achieved by the constant monitoring of print performance in accordance with the ISO 9001 procedures.
  • To maintain a good standard of discipline in the department and raise issues, in the first instance, informally but directly with the individual(s) concerned, eg; poor timekeeping.  Report all major issues of concern immediately to the Production Development Manager. Manage employees’ work – tasks, priorities, arranging cover, overtime etc.
  • To ensure that the factory premises are opened or securely closed at the beginning or end of a shift.
  • To liaise with Planning, Quality Control, Engineering, Mounting, Slitting and Stores in order to progress work at optimum performance.
  • To provide training for production employees so that they are able to perform their duties to agreed standards.  To carry out assessments for new and existing employees at the end of Training Periods.
  • To provide general support to the Production Development Manager on all issues which arise within the department and communicate relevant issues arising maintaining strictest confidentiality where necessary.
  • To perform any other duties and responsibilities as and when necessary.
  • Some office based pc work will be required along with stock ordering and management.
