Antipasti and dips are no longer just a treat for when we are entertaining friends and family, but they find their way to our tables far more frequently and with such a wide variety we really are spoilt for choice. Whether we are looking for a special treat, a quick snack or a lighter option, there is something to meet our needs.
The vast array of products on the market meets consumers varied demands but it also brings lots of packaging into the supply chain. When we consider how many elements of packaging can sometimes be found on a single antipasti or dip pot i.e film lid, clip-on-lid and cardboard sleeve, we can quickly see that if there is an opportunity to even slightly reduce the amount of packaging or lightweight that packaging, then potentially it could have a significant impact.

Constantia FFP’s recyclable lidding film not only ticks all the boxes on recyclability and consumer convenience but it also offers a huge opportunity to reduce packaging and in turn carbon emissions on pots of antipasti and dips.
Clip-on lids contribute considerably to the overall packaging weight and are in many cases also used in conjunction with a lidding film and a cardboard sleeve. By utilising the lightweight and fully printable option of our resealable and recyclable lidding film, entire packaging elements can potentially be removed and replaced by a lightweight lidding film that is collected at kerbside.

Esterseal
Esterseal is a recyclable PET lidding film, designed to be used with a PET tray and can be found on shelf in all major retailers across the UK. It lends itself perfectly to many categories within the food sector as it can be used on both pre-formed and thermoformed trays.
PP-Seal
This is a PP version of this award winning technology. PP-Seal offers the same benefits and sustainability credentials as Esterseal, but it has been designed to offer a recyclable lidding film solution to products that use PP trays.
Recyclable Lidding Film
Constantia FFP have developed a recyclable lidding film that has been classified as ‘Recycle’ by OPRL allowing it to be collected for recycling at kerbside. The resealable mono material lidding film, available in either PET or PP, has been designed to be used with a tray of the same material. The lidding film is not detached from the tray, allowing the consumer to put the entire pack in their pots, tubs and trays kerbside collection.
Constantia FFP’s recyclable lidding films are ideal for use on packs of antipasti and dips, as they are resealable, can be provided with barrier options and provide a solution to reduce packaging weight by removing clip on lids. Our PET lidding film can also be supplied with more than 30% PCR content.
Our sustainable packaging solutions are on shelf in all major retailers and are having a huge impact in recycling flexible films. They offer an immediate solution that utilises current waste streams and are interchangeable with current packaging formats.

Esterseal and the Plastic Tax
On the 1st April 2022, the UK government implemented a new Plastic Packaging Tax of £210.82 per metric tonne on all plastic packaging components that do not contain at least 30% recycled material. In the current climate, where brands and retailers are trying to move packaging lines over to recyclable solutions, it can present a significant challenge to also incorporate PCR content into the material.
Esterseal, however, is available with 30% PCR content to mitigate the Plastic Tax and offer a recyclable solution.
Not only can Esterseal mitigate the new plastic tax, it also diverts material from landfill.
