FFP win Innovation award for Recyclable lidding film

FFP Packaging Solutions have been producing market leading printed flexible packaging from their Northamptonshire based facility for over 50 years. It was therefore a huge honour to be announced as winners at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards 2020.

Working predominantly in the food industry, FFP have seen flexible packaging evolve significantly over the past 50 years and have been at the forefront of this journey thanks to their technical expertise and commitment to invest in R&D to develop new innovations that have, on many occasions, led the industry in bringing new packaging technologies to market.

It was therefore a fantastic achievement for FFP to be recognised at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards and announced as winners in the category of ‘Innovation’ for their Recyclable Lidding Film; ‘Esterseal’ a sustainable packaging solution that is the first of its kind available on the market today. Esterseal represents an incredible opportunity for brands to provide consumers with packaging that can be collected at kerbside and recycled, diverting huge volumes of flexible film from landfill.

The judges said: Innovation not only drives business forward, it also shapes the world around us and the way we lead our lives, even though many do not appreciate the innovation that goes into daily products and services we all benefit from. The winner has demonstrated how you can reduce your carbon footprint by being more environmentally friendly. Their innovation has produced cost-neutral solutions to a landfill problem that will forever change the packaging industry. It will have an impact not only here and now but for generations to come. And this solution was made in Northamptonshire.

Helen Clements, FFP’s Commercial Director said: ‘We are delighted to win this award. FFP Packaging Solutions has been based in Northamptonshire for 54 years, so it is such an accolade to win this award. We’ve always been driven by innovation, but this project has been in development for two and a half years. We’ve worked closely with retail partners and suppliers to come up with a solution to flexible packaging that can be recycled’.
